UPDATE: Central Okanagan Search and Rescue (COSAR) resumed searching Thursday morning. “We’re covering a wide area,” says COSAR Vice President, Duane Tresnich, “about 16 square kilometers.” The search team scoured the water between just north of Kalamoir Beach and Gellatly Bay in West Kelowna for the morning and early afternoon. Search crews were forced back to shore at around 2 p.m. due to heavy rain.
Another Cosar Boat team will be on the water at 9:30am to continue the search unless requested to stand down by the RCMP.—

KELOWNA, B.C. – RCMP and Central Okanagan Search and Rescue are scouring Okanagan Lake for a missing boater.
The 64-year-old Alberta man’s boat was found abandoned in the middle of the lake near Kalamoir Regional Park Tuesday night.
An Okanagan couple boating on the lake at 9 p.m. reported a collision with the drifting Malibu boat to police. The lights on the vessel were off and upon closer examination, personal effects of the Alberta man and ignition keys were located on board.
The collision did not cause injury and only minor damage.
The man’s family has been contacted and RCMP now confirm the man is missing.
