Members of an RCMP dive team have recovered the body of a missing 27-year-old Alberta man from the Columbia River in eastern British Columbia.
RCMP Constable Spencer Lainchbury says Taylor Oelrich was on a ski trip with friends and was staying at a lodge in Golden when he was reported missing to police last week.
Volunteer search-and-rescue members were patrolling the river Wednesday when they noticed a hole in the ice near Oelrich’s lodge.
Lainchbury says divers and search-and-rescue volunteers recovered his body from the river Thursday afternoon.
Police do not suspect foul play, and the coroner’s service is investigating the death.
Oelrich is originally from Kelowna but had been living in Alberta.
