City CFO leaving for top Alberta Education position

Edmonton’s chief financial officer Lorna Rosen is quitting her job to become Alberta’s deputy minister of education.

Rosen, who started with the city as general manager of public works five years ago, will leave her position in January.

“It’s just an opportunity for me to perhaps get into a larger policy discussion and perhaps wield a little more influence, she told reporters.

“I think I’m leaving (staff) in a really good position.

Rosen said she isn’t an educator, but spent 11 years working on the business side with the Edmonton public school board.

Mayor Don Iveson said it has been “phenomenal working with Rosen, city CFO since May 2010.

“I for one … am glad you will still be involved in public administration.
