Live web cameras captured flurries and a light layer of snow covering the slopes of Sunshine Village in Banff. Similarly, a light layer of snow covered the mountains near Canmore, Alberta, early Wednesday afternoon.
Although the photos are impressive, The Weather Network’s meteorologist Tyler Hamilton says that snow in this area, at this time of year, isn’t anything out of the ordinary.
“This is one of the first snowfalls of the season,” he says, “but it’s not uncommon for the higher elevations in Banff to see the first snowfall of the year in September.”
Sunshine Village also reported fresh snow on trees early Wednesday morning near Rock Isle Lake, via live web camera footage.
