Alberta RCMP charge BC man with drug possession

A British Columbia man has been charged after RCMP allegedly found a large quantity of drugs in his vehicle.

Officials said the discovery was made Saturday around 10:15 p.m. on Highway 16 in Edson.

Police stopped an eastbound vehicle for a traffic infraction and arrested the 55-year-old driver on an outstanding warrant from Edmonton.

Officers said they also seized 9.5 pounds of marijuana, four ounces of mushrooms, two ounces of cocaine and half an ounce of Crystal Methamphetamine.

Rede Hely Chase has been charged with four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and will be in court for a bail hearing on Tuesday.

RCMP also said Chase had been out on bail from an arrest in January after he was allegedly caught with 10.5 pounds of marijuana.
