Police have seized more than $5 million in cocaine, marijuana, cash and luxury cars in one of the largest drug busts in Alberta history.
Twelve people were arrested following a year-long investigation, resulting in the seizure of 40 kg of cocaine, 11,597 fentanyl pills, 1.2 kg of methamphetamine, 545 g of heroin, 182 g of MDMA, 450 g of marijuana and 60 g of Phenacetin.
A variety of weapons were also seized, including a Glock handgun that had been previously reported stolen and a TEC-9 handgun.
The arrests were made Feb. 4 by the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams.
Charges are now pending against Mustafa Al-Bedrawi, 23; James Joseph Bailey, 43, from Surrey, B.C.; Todd Randall Chapman, 31, from Smithers, B.C.; Duy-Tam Benny Phan, 20; Tam Thanh Bryan Phan, 19; Dennis Galen Ross, 27, from Smithers, B.C., Khoa That Ton, 29, Tommy That Ton, 19, Nguyen Duong Yen Phung Tran, 19, Donna Thanh Phoung Tran, 33, Thanh Hoang Tony Truong, 34, and Ronald Gene Wan Wong, 35.
The accused face 66 charges conspiracy, organized crime, drugs, weapons, and proceeds of crime.
